Weekend Weddings

Well what a weekend, three weddings photographed in Melbourne back to back, it was hectic but heaps of fun.  All three weddings were totally different and unique in their own way which is one of the things I love about weddings.  It always interests me on how couples make the day their own unique celebration and it is one of the things that makes each wedding interesting.

Rachel & Barry’s wedding was no exception they were great fun and really made my job easy.  It was all in the details with this wedding, the suits, the dresses and Rachel’s shoes all worked great together and really complimented the cars, locations and especially the venue decorations at The Willows in St Kilda which they did a great job of as you will see below.

Rachel & Barry were in the middle of renovating their house so I used this old TV to get a retro arty shot of Barry.

There was amazing natural light falling on Rachel as she was getting ready in this image.

Showing off the dress

The girls enjoying a beer in the sun before the formalities.

This is a great snap of Barry and his dad who is a real character before the ceremony.

Sometimes I am drawn to an image but don’t know why, this is one of those.

There was the most amazing light falling on Rachel’s dress in the church so I had to grab a quick shot.

A fun shot of the happy couple playing up to the camera.

This was taken at South Melbourne town hall, the pillars really add to the 1940′s theme.

The next three shots I purposely added the car and building in and gave changed the colouring to suit the day and the theme.

They did a fantastic job with the tables all done in black & white, highlighted by the Tiffany lamps in the middle of each table.

Stacey & Andrew were next in line for the JD experience and were supported by a great bridal party ready to make the day fun.  When I arrived at Andrew’s house in the morning the guys were enjoying a beer and picking their horses for the quaddie they were putting on the Cox Plate and they won so congrats boys.  The girls were all great and did a stand up job considering Stacey and one of the bridemaids are both pregnant and Stacey’s sister another bridesmaid just gave birth three weeks ago, a fertile bunch aren’t they.  Stacey looked stunning and you couldn’t tell she was pregnant at all.

A different shot of Andrew playing around with reflections again which I seem to be doing a bit of lately.

They had beautiful light coming in from these skylight/windows where the girls got ready.

Same window but with Stacey in the dress.

A nice image of Stacey on the stairs, I like the negative space in this shot.

The girls getting ready to go into the church.

I like this shot because it captures a moment just to themselves with no one else around.

They were keen on getting a nice shot with the city in the background so I think they will be happy with this.

The bridal party posing it up on the bridge.

A great idea, Stacey & Andrew donated money on behalf of their guests instead of doing bombonierie which I thought was a great idea.

Their first dance which was quite amusing.

Melissa & Adrian’s were lucky last for the weekend getting married on Sunday in Dandenong.  They are a pretty cruisy couple so we had no problems getting some great shots of them and the bridal party.

When I was taking some picture of the bouquet their little cat decided to get in on the action.

This is a great shot of Adrian at his parents house.

And a nice close up of Adiran looking very sharp.

The boys got picked up in a stretched hummer which worked well for this image with the boys in the reflection.

Melissa wanted to incorporate this mirror which had been in her family for 4 generations into a shot and this is what we came up with.

The girls look great and I loved the vibrancy of the purple dresses.

A cute shot of the page boy with the rings before the ceremony

This is one of my favourite shots of Melissa & Adrian having a laugh.

This was taken out the back of the reception venue and has a real urban grunge feel to it.

The bridal waltz often ends the formal part of the night and offers a great opportunity to capture the connection of the couple.
