What an amazing wedding! I have just returned back from Thailand where I had the pleasure of photographing Troy & Kate’s wedding in the beautiful Koh Samui. I had been looking forward to this wedding for quite some time and it didn’t disappoint. As this was my first overseas destination wedding I was a bit apprehensive about being in unfamiliar surrounds but the staff at Nora beach where the wedding took place were fantastic and drove me around to where I needed to be.

When I first pulled my camera out and started taking photos of the boys it was that muggy that my lens kept fogging up which was a bit of a worry but once I sorted that out it was smooth sailing.

The boys kept cool sipping on some Leo beers before the ceremony.

Kate and the girls got ready at the Nora Buri with their own infinity pool and sea views it was too easy to get great shots.

The way the staff at Nora Beach set up for the ceremony with flowers, candles and arch way was brilliant and really added to the ambiance of the ceremony.

Troy & Kate had 68 guests travel over for the wedding which is a record at Nora Beach and really gave the reception a party atm0sphere.

It’s not often that I get to shoot weddings on such a beautiful beach that is deserted except for the bridal party.

Everyone took a break after they bridal shots for a few drinks and a chat before the reception started.

Let the party begin!

I have finally got some images from my holiday in Thailand up, sorry it took a while. I have also put some images from a photography seminar weekend I went on with the AIPP at Warnambool. A quick reminder to RSVP this week if you plan on coming to the official opening of the studio next Friday night for a few drinks.

THAILAND

For the first leg of our belated honeymoon Heidi and I decided to stay in Kao Lak, a small town 1hr north of Phuket. The resort we stayed in was the most relaxing and secluded place I have been fortuate enough to visit. The people are so kind and accomodating and the bonus was there was nothing to do there so we had no choice but to take walks along the beach or sit by the pool sipping cocktails, yeah it was tough.

These images are of some abandon long boats that we discovered on a walk, the bright colours set amongst the tropical forest really appealed to me.

A simple shot of a palm leaf in the sand.

The next two shots were taken along the resorts private beach on sunset, there was not a person in sight as far as the eye could see and it was sometimes like you were on your own private island.

We headed to Phi Phi Island for the next three nights and got a fantastic surprise when they upgraded us to a pool villa that was situated on the side of a mountain. It was so far from the resort that they had to transport us up and back in a golf cart, the pic below is the view we had from the bedroom.

Taken from the speed boat saying goodbye to paradise.

The next few images were taken when we did a speedboat tour to Phang Nah Bay, the scenery was like something out of a movie.

This image was actually taken with Heidi’s point and shoot camera.

These are of the floating gypsy village which has to be seen to be believed. All the villagers pool the money they make from fishing and tourism and share it as a community, do you think that would work in Australia!

Last week I went on a three day Seminar to Warnambool with around 50 other photographers from Victoria and Tasmania. There were 5 great speakers covering a range of topics which were all quite inspirational. We also got out to shoot some landscapes down the great ocean road and a trash the dress session at the Maratime museum, as well as a couple of drinks at night.

This is Kelly, Matt & Lisa from Romantic Events Photography ready for action.

Darryn Lyons or “Mr Paparazzi’ as he is know was one of the speakers but here we turned the camera on him for a couple of snaps.

A few of the shots from the Trash the Dress session, if any past brides are keen to do this type of shoot just let me know, they are heaps of fun and the dress doesn’t actually get that trashed.

These are some landscapes taken at the 12 Apostles, London bridge etc on the great ocean road.

I saw this french bulldog and had to get a shot of him, I think we might get one to keep our dog Rex company, they are funny because they are both ugly and cute at the same time.

The textures really appealed to me here.
